Nicole thought she was simply enjoying a holiday in Italy with her friends.
The Cinque Terre were part of their trip: sea views, colourful villages and a few days together on the Italian Riviera. What she didn’t know was that Georgio had planned something very different.
Behind the scenes, a surprise Cinque Terre proposal was waiting for her at Porto Roca in Monterosso al Mare.
And she had absolutely no idea.
A Girls’ Trip with a Secret
The surprise had been carefully coordinated with one of Georgio’s friends, who helped us manage the timing without raising Nicole’s suspicions.
Nicole and her friends travelled by train from La Spezia, believing they were simply continuing their day together in the Cinque Terre.
Meanwhile, everything was being prepared for Georgio’s arrival and for the moment that would completely change the meaning of the trip.
What appeared to Nicole as another beautiful stop during her Italian holiday was actually leading her towards her marriage proposal.
The Sea-View Terrace at Porto Roca
For the proposal, Georgio had chosen the panoramic setting of Porto Roca in Monterosso al Mare, overlooking the Ligurian Sea.
The terrace offered exactly what this moment needed: the dramatic landscape of the Cinque Terre combined with an elegant and intimate atmosphere where the surprise could unfold naturally.
Floral arrangements, delicate pink tones, rose petals and candlelight transformed the space while allowing the sea view itself to remain part of the design.
Nothing needed to compete with the coastline.
The setting was romantic and refined, created around one purpose: giving Georgio and Nicole a beautiful setting for a moment they would remember forever.
The Surprise
Nicole arrived still believing she was spending the day with her friends.
Then came the reveal.
Georgio was there waiting for her.
The holiday, the journey from La Spezia and the visit to Porto Roca suddenly took on a completely different meaning.
In front of the sea, surrounded by the romantic setting prepared for them, Georgio asked Nicole to marry him.
She said yes.
It was the kind of reaction that can only happen when the surprise has truly remained a surprise until the final moment.
Capturing the Proposal Without Spoiling the Surprise
A professional photographer and videographer were already in place to document the experience.
For a surprise proposal, their role begins before the question is asked. They need to be ready to capture the first reaction while remaining discreet enough not to reveal what is about to happen.
That allowed Nicole and Georgio to experience the moment naturally while photography and video preserved everything around them: the anticipation, Georgio getting down on one knee, Nicole’s reaction and the emotions immediately after the yes.
The result was not simply a collection of engagement portraits, but the visual story of how the surprise actually happened.
From a Surprise to a Celebration
Once the secret was finally out, the atmosphere changed completely.
The friends who had been part of Nicole’s journey to the Cinque Terre could now celebrate with the newly engaged couple.
What began as a holiday with friends had unexpectedly become an engagement trip.
And Porto Roca, initially just another beautiful destination during Nicole’s Italian holiday, became the place where she and Georgio started a completely new chapter together.
The photographs after the proposal capture that transition beautifully: from surprise and emotion to the relaxed happiness of two people who had just become engaged.
A Romantic Dinner Overlooking the Ligurian Sea
The celebration continued on the terrace, surrounded by flowers, candlelight and the colours of the evening over the Ligurian coast.
After the emotion of the proposal and the photographs with their friends, Nicole and Georgio could finally enjoy the setting together and celebrate what had just happened.
A Cinque Terre Proposal Built Around the Story
What made Nicole and Georgio’s proposal special wasn’t simply the view.
It was the way every element supported the surprise: the journey by train from La Spezia, the coordination with Georgio’s friend, Nicole believing she was still enjoying a girls’ holiday, Georgio waiting at the destination, the terrace overlooking the sea and the photographer and videographer already prepared to capture the moment.
